The language Viemo (ISO 639-3: vig; also called vige , vigué and vigye ) is a Gur language and is the only remaining representative of the Viemo languages ​​within the Niger-Congo language family within the Gur languages .

The language is spoken by a total of 8,000 people in Burkina Faso in the province of Houet , about 40 kilometers southeast of Bobo Dioulasso in the Karankasso-Vigué department .

The speakers of the language are mostly bilingual with French as the official language . In the past, however, the Dioula had the function of a national language for the Viemo speakers.
