A four-lifter 's Verslehre a meter with four elevations or a concrete verse , corresponding to such meter. The term can be used in literatures with an accentuating verse principle , since only there the number of elevations is decisive for the meter. Since, according to Heusler's theory of verse, the number of bars corresponds to the number of lifts, the four- stroke lift is also called a four-stroke .
