Villa Alhambra

The Villa Alhambra from 1924 is located at Hüttenwerkstrasse 28 in Dillingen in Saarland . The listed building owes the name Alhambra to its Moorish style elements.

history

The former cinema goes back to a previous building from 1911, reminiscent of a Greek temple, in which the "Cinematographs Theater Helios" was housed. As a result of the inflation , the cinema was closed after the last showing on March 22, 1924. After the conversion into the form that still exists today, “The Humble and the Singer” was played on Good Friday, May 29, 1925. Parquet, three tiers and boxes with ventilation replace the simple hall. The tickets for the performances accompanied by a distinguished orchestra cost two to six francs. The competition between the “Union” and its “large military orchestra” was reacted to by expanding its own orchestra accordingly. The first color film was shown on June 5th. As a result of the cinema dying, the cinema was converted into a commercial building while retaining the facade.
