Villa Bouchina

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Villa Bouchina was located in the Dutch city of Doetinchem . During the Second World War , nine (according to other sources eight) Jews with outstanding social status were imprisoned there by the German occupation forces on February 27, 1943 and initially held under preferential treatment. The aim was to get other Onderduikers (hidden Jews) with the prospect of preferential treatment to volunteer. However, the detainees were already transported to the Theresienstadt ghetto on April 21, 1943 .

Doetinchem was not the only town with an internment camp of this type; In the nearby town of Barneveld , the Germans used De Schaffelaar Castle and De Biezen House with the same intention . Around 600 people were held in Barneveld. These people were chosen by General Secretary Frederiks , who was also responsible for the internment at Villa Bouchina.
