Villa Fortunatus
The Villa Fortunatus is an archaeological site in Aragon , Spain on the left bank of the Río Cinca, discovered around 1930, around 4 km north of the municipality of Fraga (Huesca) . It is a large estate . The name Fortunatus goes back to the inscription on a mosaic.
history
The Villa Fortunatus is said to have been inhabited since the time of the Roman Republic .
investment
The estate was built around an inner courtyard ( peristyle ) measuring 17 by 20.5 m. Two Roman villae and an early Christian basilica (end of the 4th or beginning of the 5th century, a rectangle 13.5 by 21.5 m) lie one above the other. The remains of the buildings are in good condition.
Mosaics
In the Archaeological Museum of Saragossa ( Museo de Zaragoza ) there are various mosaics from the Villa Fortunatus, including a monthly cycle and the inscription of Fortunatus.
