description

Villa Castello Giustinian in Roncade

The villa, which is rectangular in plan, has a protruding double loggia with columns made of Istrian stone ( pietra d´Istria ), which is closed with a triangular gable. The villa is enclosed on three sides by a mighty wall with towers, which was surrounded by a moat. Today the entrance still leads over a bridge between two mighty towers into the inner courtyard. However, this well-fortified appearance was never intended for defense purposes, but was intended to underline the feudal claim of its owners. On the side walls there are two farm buildings ( barchesse ) with an arcade front. The entire complex was planned as a farm ( villa fattoria ) and has remained so to this day.

The villa is surrounded by an Italian-style garden with trimmed box borders and numerous statues.

After extensive restoration, the stylish Venetian villa has been a 4-star hotel with a total of 35 rooms and suites since 1992.
