The Villa Miralago is located on the north bank of the Wörthersee in the area of the municipality of Pörtschach am Wörther See in Carinthia .

history

The Villa Miralago was built according to the plans of the architect Carl Langhammer in 1893 as "Villa Lugg in See". The builder of the villa with bath house was the Viennese industrialist Ludwig Urban, hence the name "Villa Ludwig Urban", which is often used. The Urban family was a successful entrepreneurial family from Vienna. Brands that are still known today are JOLLY colored pencils or DKT - The Commercial Talent . The builder was Peter Missoni. The villa is flanked by the other three beautiful villas in the style of the Wörthersee architecture , Villa Wörth, Villa Seehort and Villa Seefried: This villa ensemble is probably the most beautiful on Lake Wörthersee and unique in all of Carinthia .

Building description

Embedded in a 6,500 square meter park directly on the lake shore, the villa offers an architectural experience. The entry page is not the same as the main page. An elaborate design of the facade facing the lake (symmetry due to the doubled bay motif) in the style of late historicism supports the representative character of the villa.

The bathing and boathouse consists of a wide, three-aisled substructure that is open to the lake, the middle axis of which protrudes somewhat, above which an octagonal, pavilion-like structure is located. The bathhouse is one of the few surviving examples of extremely expressive, wooden small architecture and the associated bathing culture.
