The Villa Tesdorpf is a building on Tallbacksstigen 11 in Skövde , Sweden. The house was designed by the architect Ralph Erskine and built in 1954 by and for the master builder Carl Tesdorpf . The villa is of high cultural and historical value and is listed in the monument register of the municipality of Skövde.

The client of this private villa was the builder and civil engineer Carl Tesdorpf in Skövde. The house was planned as a residence for four people. On a narrow forest plot, Ralph Erskine and his colleague Lennart Bergström designed a two-story building with a heavy, wall-enclosed ground floor made of lacquered lightweight concrete blocks and a light upper floor made of wood, the facades of which were clad with vertical, brown-glazed pine panels. The house got the typical Erskine "organic" forms and was carefully integrated into the landscape. The villa was designed according to the three elements that, according to Erskine, are of central importance for a Swedish residence: “The winter protection area inside, the fenced, sheltered inner courtyard that faces the sun for spring and autumn use, and an outdoor space in the unspoilt Forest". On the ground floor there is the kitchen, a dining room and a living room, and in two separate buildings there is a maid's room and a garage. The kitchen, dining room and entrance are in an outer zone that surrounds the dining room. On the upper floor, Erskine designed four bedrooms, a study and the bathroom. The small windows on the upper floor to the bathroom and hall were partially hidden behind the boards of the facade panel. The window belt on the ground floor, which illuminates the side room of the kitchen, was placed high under the ceiling and helps ensure that the upper floor gives the impression of floating above the ground floor. Interior panels include wall paneling in planed and roof paneling in sawn pine.

The villa attracted attention both in Sweden and abroad. Before construction began, Skövdes building committee was skeptical. The minutes of the committee in Skövde of 8 September 1953 stated: “The exterior of the controversial building was designed in such a way that one has to be extremely cautious about the question of whether building permits can be issued. The plot of land on which the building is to be erected, however, is located and the area around the building is built in such a way that the exterior of the building does not disturb the overall impression, so that this would be the case at practically any other location in the area. "

The building was presented in 2015 in the Swedish TV series Nordiska Hus as one of the "Houses of Nordic Architecture on the World Map".
