The Villa Waldfrieden in Düsseldorf-Rath was built in 1893/1894 to a design by the Düsseldorf architect Carl Wilhelm Schleicher for the painter Carl Gehrts and his wife Anna .

The villa was in 1895, the address "Oberrath 275A" and was still before 1922 in what was then Steiner street called since 1909 Liliencronstraße and something has changed in the course of the road. From today's perspective, the house of the client Karl Heinrich Julius Gehrts was built near the plot of land at Reichswaldallee No. 7 not far from the Aaper forest .

The two-storey house was designed in the local style. Shingles , wood and plaster were the predominant materials used for the facade of the house on the edge of the forest. Most of the floor plan was used by the painter's studio of the builder who had died in 1898. Carl Gehrts called the villa: "Haus Waldfried".
