Vimaria Publishing House

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Vimaria publishing house , named after Vimaria , was founded in Weimar . An early title by Johannes Schlaf from 1927 can be found in the Deutsche Bücherei (Leipzig) . Due to the complicated economic conditions at the end of the Weimar Republic , the publishing house was apparently inactive until around 1930. Around 1931, the company was acquired and expanded by the publishing bookseller Fritz Fink in Weimar.

The company now traded under the name of Vimaria-Verlag (Fritz Fink) and, as part of a publisher's profile, took over the Weimar publications of the Fritz-Fink-Verlag in the form of new editions from around 1931. The profile consisted only of the spectrum of Weimar literature on the history of the city and its content partially overlapped with the earlier production by Fritz Fink Verlag. These titles were now published exclusively by this publisher. The publishing company, which was well known in Thuringia at the time and based at Jenaer Straße 20 in Weimar, probably came to a standstill towards the end of the Second World War and with the death of the two owners - some of the remaining stocks were still distributed locally. Today, due to the war, the publishing house production in the Deutsche Bibliothek / Deutsche Bücherei is not completely available.

As far as is known, there is still no printed company history of this publisher, which is still of historical interest today due to the city-historical title.
