Vinaigrette (craft)
In goldsmithing, vinaigrette describes a small jar made of brass or silver , rarely made of gold , with a small sponge that is held under the lid by a grid and looks like a small smelling bottle with strong fragrances , such as B. vinegar ( French vinaigre = vinegar) is soaked. Vinaigrettes were especially popular in Victorian times with the fashion's penchant for tight-lacing bodices . Women often wore such vinaigrettes on their belts to use them when they threatened to faint .
