Vineam quam plantavit

Vineam quam plantavit ("The planted vineyard ...") is an encyclical of Pope Pius VII , published on June 12, 1817.

After the Napoleonic rule, the Pope announced the restoration of the dioceses in France and proposed the establishment of further dioceses and archbishopric . To achieve this goal, the Pope calls on the bishops of France to cooperate. He intends to restore the "vineyard France" to its old bloom and asks the new King Louis XVIII. who ruled since 1816 for support.
