Vino is server software for virtual network computing . It is part of Gnome , a graphical user interface for Unix / Linux-like systems. Vino enables the so-called remote desktop , i. H. remote control - or even just seeing - the desktop from another computer. Settings can be made using the graphic program "vino-preferences".

In contrast to the remote desktop (from Microsoft Windows ), Vino is not necessary for a second or remote login of the same or another user on the graphical user interface, as is the case with the ICA client in the Windows world . This ability was built into the X Window System from the very beginning - in contrast to Microsoft Windows, for example.

Vinagre

Vinagre is a Vino-compatible remote desktop client for the Gnome desktop environment.
