Virginia Slims is a cigarette brand owned by the Altria Group (formerly Phillip Morris Inc. ).
history
After American Tobacco launched a cigarette brand for young, female smokers in 1967 with Silvia Thins , Phillip Morris followed suit with Virginia Slims a year later . The cigarette was thinner and longer than other cigarettes. The advertising campaign designed by the Leo Burnett agency aimed at the increasing self-determination and emancipation of women, the first advertising slogan was “You've come a long way, baby” (“You've come a long way, darling”). Virginia Slim was the main sponsor of the international women's tennis tour (now the WTA Tour ) until the 1980s .

Virginia Slims are sold in lengths of 100 or 120 mm and a circumference of 23 or 21 mm ( Superslims ). In addition to the Virginia Slims Gold , Virginia Slims Silver with reduced nicotine and tar content , as well as Virginia Slims Menthol (with menthol added ) are offered.
