Virotherapy

The Virotherapy (also oncolytic Virotherapy ) is the medical use of oncolytic viruses as a therapy against tumors .

Virotherapy is used for the purpose of immunization against tumors. The effect of Virotherapy via several mechanisms. The tumor cells are infected and selectively killed by viruses or viral vectors , analogous to phage therapy for bacterial infections. In addition, the presence of viral components activates the immune system (e.g. via PRR ), which is why virotherapy is one of the cancer immunotherapies .
