Virtual unbundled local access

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As V irtual U nbundled L ocal A ccess (German: virtual unbundled local access product ), short VULA is a not physically in the regulation of the telecommunications market unbundled access product referred to a part of a telecommunication infrastructure.

Distinction

In contrast to a physically unbundled access product, such as an unbundled DSL connection (from a conventional telephone connection) or an unbundled subscriber line , a specific part of the infrastructure can be used in a virtually unbundled local access product due to technical or economic considerations cannot be physically unbundled or only with an unreasonable effort. Therefore, in such a case, a virtually unbundled product is used, which is regulatory i. d. As a rule, it must come as close as possible to a physically unbundled product.

A VULA wholesale product comes close to bitstream access due to its properties (not all options of a fully unbundled product are available) .

criticism

In Germany in particular, a virtual unbundled local access product was discussed controversially in the context of the introduction of VDSL2 vectoring . In particular, the competitors of the former state-owned company Deutsche Telekom AG were skeptical of this possibility of a wholesale product, as they would no longer have all the options for their own product design, as is the case with a completely unbundled local loop.
