Viscount Chandos
Viscount Chandos , of Aldershot in the County of Southampton , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
Award
The title was created on September 9, 1954 for the businessman and politician Oliver Lyttelton .
Today his grandson Thomas Lyttelton holds the title of 3rd Viscount. After he had lost the seat in the House of Lords originally associated with the title through the reform of the House of Lords in 1999 , he was awarded the title of Baron Lyttelton of Aldershot , of Aldershot in the County of Hampshire on April 19, 2000 for life (Life Peerage) . This enabled him to return to the House of Lords and sit there for the Labor Party .
