Viscount Fitzhardinge
Viscount Fitzhardinge was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Ireland .
Awarding and other titles
The title was created on July 14, 1663 for Charles Berkeley . Together with the Viscountcy he was awarded the subordinate title of Baron Berkeley of Rathdowne . Both titles belonged to the Peerage of Ireland and were awarded with the special note that, in the absence of male offspring, they could also be passed on to his father and male offspring. On March 17, 1664 he was also in the Peerage of England to the Earl of Falmouth and Baron Botetourt of Langport in the County of Somersetraised. When he died childless on June 3, 1665, his English titles lapsed, the Irish titles fell to his father and, according to the special note, to his brothers. The youngest of them, the 4th Viscount, died on December 19, 1712 without male descendants, so that the titles Viscount Fitzhardinge and Baron Berkeley of Rathdowne also expired.
