Viscount Soulbury

Viscount Soulbury , of Soulbury in the County of Buckingham , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Award

The title was created in 1954 for the conservative politician Herwald Ramsbotham, 1st Baron Soulbury . He had last been Governor General of Ceylon , having previously held various ministerial offices in the British government.

Subordinate title

The first Viscount had already been raised to Baron Soulbury of Soulbury in the County of Buckingham in 1941 when he left the House of Commons . This title, which also belongs to the Peerage of the United Kingdom, is now listed as a subordinate title.

The heir to the title is the son of the current Viscount, Hon. Edward Herwald Ramsbotham (* 1966).
