Visiometry

In the medical context, visiometry refers to processes that measure the properties and parameters of the eyes, such as B. Testing of visual acuity , color sense , field of vision , contrast sensitivity , glare sensitivity.

The term “visiometry” is otherwise also used for assessment or measurement by visual inspection or with visual means (by optical devices). In cosmetics and dermatology in particular, the testing of the surface properties of the skin, in particular the skin roughness, is meant.

Viziometrics

As a sub-discipline of scientometry , a new (as of June 8, 2016) procedure is used, which the developers call "Viziometrics", which is translated into German as "Visiometry". This method is used to examine graphic elements in scientific publications. Since then, the role of graphic elements in the scientific process has also been examined under this generic term (“Viziometrics”). This includes e.g. B. the number of diagrams in an article and its scientific influence, special features of different data representations (e.g. diagrams, photos, tables, data series, equations), the distribution of figures in the literature over time and depending on Subject and topic, the importance for the search for scientific publications.
