Vision Divine is an Italian metal band that was formed in 1998. The music is a mixture of progressive and power metal .
Band history
Originally Olaf Thorsen planned Vision Divine as a solo project, but it developed into his main group. He played with the power metal band Labyrinth when Vision Divine was founded and the singer of Rhapsody Of Fire , Fabio Lione , was soon added. So the solo project turned into a real band, because Mat Stancioiu on drums, Andrea "Tower" Torricini on bass and Andrew Mc Pauls on keyboard soon joined them. With this line-up they recorded their first album in 1999, which bore the band name and caused positive reactions.
In 2000 they went on an American tour where they headlined in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Panama and Mexico, among others . In 2001 they wrote lyrics for their new album and then recorded it under the name "Send Me an Angel". It was released in January 2002. Olaf Thorsen then left Labyrinth to concentrate fully on this band. Mat Stancioiu and Andrew Mc Pauls switched to Labyrinth and were replaced by Oleg Smirnoff and Matteo Amoroso.
In 2003 Fabio Lione left the band to concentrate fully on his main group Rhapsody of Fire , the position as singer was taken by Michele Luppi. With him they recorded a new album that was released in April 2004 under the name "Stream of Consciousness". After this album they signed with Scarlet Records for Italy, King Records for Japan and Metal Blade for the rest of the world. Since many fans wanted a live DVD, "Stage of Consciousness" was released in 2005, a 95-minute recording from the band's concerts. In October 2005 the fourth album was released, on the songs of which Oleg Smirnoff and Michele Luppi also worked alongside Olaf Thorsen. In December 2005 the line-up was changed again in three places. Oleg Smirnoff and Andrea "Tower" Torricini were replaced by Alessio "Tom" Lucatti and Cristiano Bertocchi. The drum position that Matteo Amoroso left behind was filled in 2006 by Alessandro Bissa ( Bad Faith ).
The fifth album "The 25th Hour" was released on June 29, 2007, and Timo Tolkki contributed to the recordings .
On April 24, 2008 it was officially announced on the band's homepage that the singer Michele Luppi is leaving Vision Divine. Reasons were not given. The new singer for Vision Divine was announced on May 28, 2008. It is Fabio Lione, who has sung for Vision Divine before.
