The VisualBoyAdvance is a free emulator under GNU GPL . It emulates the Nintendo - handheld consoles Game Boy , Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance on a PC. In the meantime, however, there are also ports for Sony's PlayStation Portable and Sega's Dreamcast ( Visual Troy Advance ). It is one of the most popular emulators for these platforms. The games are required as ROM rips in files with the extensions * .gba, * .gbc or * .gb.
Besides the DirectX version, there is a version that on the free, cross-platform available graphics library Simple Direct Media Layer -based (SDL). These are available for a variety of platforms such as Linux , BSD , macOS , Windows or BeOS .

VisualBoyAdvance-M
VisualBoyAdvance-M (VBA-M) is a fork of VisualBoyAdvance, which arose due to its inactivity. The code has been updated. Several other forks, such as: B. VBALink integrated. Hence the M in the name, which stands for Merge .
