The GHP Holding GmbH , emerged from the three companies G ünther pressure , H ansa Advertising and P Flüger envelope , is an international group of companies, based in Bamberg, which relate to marketing services specialized for companies. It produces direct mail and electronic cards such as the Payback customer card , creates and operates customer databases for companies and evaluates advertising measures for them. The group consisting of around twenty sub-companies with a turnover of almost 200 million euros with a little more than 3,000 employees in 2006 is divided into the three business areas "Mail", "Cards" and "Service" and has nine other locations in Germany and holdings in the Czech Republic , Hungary , France , Russia , Vietnam and Israel . GHP has been wholly owned by Swiss Post since the end of June 2008 .

history

Günther-Druck, founded in 1953 by Manfred Günther, forms the basis of today's GHP Holding GmbH. Three years after it was founded, Günther-Druck bought the envelope manufacturer Pflüger Kuvert. Hansa Werbung, which has been specializing in direct mail since 1988, was merged with the other two companies in 1999 to form GHP, based in Bamberg .

In the years 2000 and 2001 the company expanded beyond Germany and created new business areas by founding subsidiaries and purchasing other existing companies. In the same period, today's GHP Holding GmbH was founded as the parent company of the numerous subsidiaries. Today, in addition to nine other locations in Germany, the company has branches and participations in the Czech Republic , Hungary , France , Russia , Vietnam and Israel .

In 2003 GHP was restructured into the three areas of Mail, Cards and Service and has been part of the Swiss Post Group since 2006 , two thirds of which GHP bought up. The remaining third of the shares initially remained in the possession of the management of GHP. In June 2008, Swiss Post also took over the remaining shares in GHP, so that it has been a 100% subsidiary since then.

In the course of the complete takeover, Carl Michael Nägele replaced Reinhard Holekamp as managing director of GHP Holding GmbH on October 1, 2008 .

In addition, allegations of bribery against GHP Holding GmbH were made in September 2006 . According to investigations by the Hamburg public prosecutor's office, there was suspicion that an employee of GHP had bribed employees of the Otto Group's subsidiary Bonprix for the purpose of procuring orders.

Business fields

GHP is divided into the three business areas "Mail", "Cards" and "Service", which in turn consist of more than 20 subsidiaries. In 2006 GHP employed 3,026 people and achieved a turnover of 194.35 million euros . The company aims to offer the most comprehensive services possible for the products it manufactures in the areas of "mail" and "cards" from a single source.

The "Mail" division comprises mail advertising services for business customers, such as the design, printing and execution of direct mail, invoices and other customer letters. Major customers in the "mail" sector include Deutsche Telekom , Reader's Digest and Quelle . The "Cards" section produces electronic cards, such as the BahnCard of Deutsche Bahn , the loyalty card Payback and HappyDigits , bank cards and various smart cards .

"Services" deals with services relating to the orders carried out and produced by "Mail" and "Cards". GHP records the application forms for BahnCard and Payback in electronic databases and offers data mining- based services for these databases. The "Services" division also includes its own call center for customer contact and customer loyalty on behalf of the respective business customers.

The advertising activities offered by the various GHP areas are part of the so-called dialog marketing they offer , which, among other things, linked to the databases of personal data available at GHP, enables advertising tailored to the target person.
