Visual test

Visual Test was an application from Microsoft , later Rational Software, for the automated testing of programs. With the help of Visual Test scripts could be developed in a programming language derived from BASIC in order to be able to execute them afterwards.

history

Originally developed as an internal application for use by Windows developers, Microsoft released the first version in 1992 under the name Microsoft Test for Windows 3.0 . Version 2.0 for Windows 3.1 followed in 1993 . Version 3.0, released in 1994, first supported testing of 32-bit applications. With version 4.0 in 1995, Microsoft Test was renamed Visual Test and integrated into the Visual Studio development environment.

In 1996 Microsoft announced that Visual Test would be sold to Rational Software . This was followed by version 6.0, which was now integrated with the other development tools from Rational Software. The last version of Visual Test was version 6.5, and support was offered by Rational Software until 2002.
