Vita iners ( Latin for lazy life ) describes a topos of Roman poetry. This is mentioned in the Carmina by Albius Tibullus and describes the love of the protagonist (who in this case could be Tibullus himself), which goes beyond the ambitious life of the Roman. The term is derived from the Latin vita otiosa [lat. idle life] similar.
