Vitas Vasiliauskas

Vitas Vasiliauskas (born June 15, 1973 in Kaunas , Lithuania ) is a Lithuanian lawyer , chairman of the board of Lietuvos bankas (from April 2011), former lawyer of " LAWIN Lideika, Petrauskas, Valiūnas ir partneriai" and Deputy Minister of Finance of Lithuania .

Life

After graduating from secondary school in Kaunas from 1980 to 1991, Vasiliauskas completed a degree in law from 1991 to 1996 and a doctoral degree from 1997 at the Vilnius University Faculty of Law . On June 11, 2004, he received his doctorate on the subject of “The importance of court precedent in the Roman-Germanic legal system ” (“Teisminio precedento reikšmė romanų - germanų teisinėje sistemoje”) and has been a lecturer at the chair of legal history and legal theory since 2004 . From 1997 to 2004 he worked as an assistant. From 2004 to 2009 he was a lecturer at the Chair of Constitutional and Administrative Law and since 2010 at the Chair of Public Law .

From 1995 to 1997 he was senior tax inspector at the Lithuanian State Tax Inspectorate, from 1998 to 2001 director of the tax department of the Ministry of Finance, from 2001 to 2004 Deputy Minister of Finance of Lithuania and from 2004 to April 2011 lawyer and attorney at the commercial law firm “Lideika, Petrauskas , Valiūnas ir partneriai LAWIN “. From April 16, 2011, he will head the Lithuanian Bank as Chairman of the Board.

From March 2009 to June 2009, he headed Dalia Grybauskaitė's electoral office during the elections to the President of Lithuania .

Vasiliauskas is married and has three children with Ms. Rasa Vasiliauskienė (* 1973), a lawyer.

Vasiliauskas speaks English, German and Russian.
