Vlietlanden is a Dutch nature reserve and recreation area in the triangle of the southern Dutch municipalities of Maassluis , Midden-Delfland and Vlaardingen . It is 72 hectares and one of the few nature reserves that is not polded . As a result, it is higher than the surrounding polders, namely the large Broekpolder to the east . Vlietlanden has the extensive Starrevaart bird sanctuary , which was created in 1987 and opened in 1995. The entire area is accessible for hiking and wildlife viewing. Directly adjacent is a 150-hectare lake, which was created as a result of sand mining from 1976 and was designed as a spacious recreation area that offers many water sports. It is a popular local recreation area for people living on the outskirts .

This area must not be confused with the large commercial bungalow park de Vlietlanden in North Holland , which is heavily advertised by its operators, especially in Germany. Coordinates: 51 ° 54 '52.65 "  N , 4 ° 18' 7.84"  E
