The Isfahan Bird Garden ( Persian باغ پرندگان اصفهان Bagh e Parandegan e Esfahan , [ bɑɢ ɛ pæɾændɛgɑn ɛ ɛsfɑhɑn ]) was founded in the 1990s by the Isfahan city council and is located in the city center on the bank of Zayandeh Rud . It is under the supervision of the Welfare and Recreation Organization , which is part of Isfahan's City Council. The bird garden has an area of 17,000 m² and wasfencedin with wire mesh . The wire mesh was pitched on 11 metal pillars with a maximum height of 22 m. More than 5000 birds from more than 130 different species are kept in the bird garden. These birds are native to different areas of Iran as well as other countries such as Australia , Indonesia , China and Tanzania .
