Vogthaus in Kempten

The Vogthaus is a listed patrician house of the Vogt family in Kempten . It is located opposite the Müßiggengelzunfthaus and has the street address Vogtstraße 8 .

History and description

The house of the Vogt family was renovated around 1600. The patrician family Vogt was one of the richest families in the imperial city. The interior was richly decorated with stucco from the 17th century.

On the ground floor there is a groin vaulted single - pillar room on the right ; on the left there is a narrow room with stars and circles as stucco. On the ceilings of the steps in front of the stairs on the first and second floors there are stuccoed cassettes made of circular and quadrangular shapes. The double door pieces have pilasters . The gable house has a basket arch entrance.

On the first floor there is a room with a vaulted beamed ceiling from the late 15th century. The bars are designed in the middle and at the ends with shield and leaf shapes. There is a wooden coffered ceiling on the second floor . The rear building with the arcades facing the courtyard was demolished when the old town was renovated in the 1960s.
