history

Vogue Records was a short-lived record label in the United States in the 1940s . It became known especially for the artistic design of the records. The label was founded in 1946 as part of the Sav-Way Industries , Detroit group. The records were initially a hit, on the one hand, because they were artfully colored picture plates, but on the other hand, because their sound was better than that of the shellac records that were dominant at the time. The panels were made by first placing printed illustrations on both sides of an aluminum core and then covering both sides with clear vinyl into which the grooves were then pressed. The company stopped manufacturing after a year, after releasing between 67 and 74 (the sources give different numbers) double-sided 78 rpm records. Some of these records were reprints of recordings originally released by other companies.

Because of their artistic design, Vogue Records vinyl records are now sought-after collector's items.
