Voile

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Voile ( French for veil ) is called a transparent, fine denier, linen weave woven fabric . The threads ( crepe yarns ) that are interwoven, twisted and thus crimped in the voile result in the smallest air holes in the fabric, which ensure good air circulation. The fabric feels slightly sandy.

Voile is often made into men's shirts. Chiffon is similar , it is mostly used for women's clothing (blouses).

Voile is mostly made from highly twisted cotton yarns, but other fibers such as silk , viscose or blends are sometimes used. An alternative to voile is the slightly heavier batiste .

The voile used to be sewn onto a hat and then left over the face like a veil. Today it is still used as a wedding veil.
