Vojenský historický ústav
The Vojenský historický ústav (VHÚ, Military History Institute ) in Prague is a museum, research and library facility of the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic. The VHÚ systematically collects written material, in particular on the history of the Czech and Czechoslovak military and the Czechoslovak army . Its task is to look after them and to research them scientifically, process them and make them accessible to the public. The results of this work are presented by the VHÚ in library services, in books and magazines, at scientific conferences and seminars, in the historical service to military units, institutes and facilities, and in the public service. Research activities of the VHÚ are also aimed at researching and documenting the history of the Czechoslovak resistance .
The institute was founded in 1919 and has been renamed several times since then. It is a member of the International Council of Museums .

The VHÚ manages the following museums:
- Armádní muzeum Žižkov (Army Museum Žižkov ) in Prague
- Kbely Aviation Museum in Prague
- Vojenské technické muzeum Lešany (Military Technical Museum) in Lešany , Central Bohemia
The VHÚ also oversees the following exhibitions:
- Imperial Armory in the Schwarzenberg Palace in Prague
- Castle Guard Museum at Prague Castle
- Permanent exhibition on Operation Anthropoid and the subsequent repression in the Church of St. Cyril and Method in Prague
