The Vokalmusik Wiesbaden e. V. is the sponsor of the men's chamber choir Wiesbaden-Sonnenberg and the vocal ensemble for high voices arSoni Wiesbaden.

history

The association Vokalmusik Wiesbaden e. V. can look back on over 150 years of history. In its current form, it has existed as a division since 2014, originally as a typical male choir "Gemüthlichkeit Sonnenberg" in 1865 from the singing group of TSG Turn- und Sportgemeinde 1861 Sonnenberg e. V. founded in 1987 as the Wiesbaden-Sonnenberg men's chamber choir. The specialty of the choirs lies in the breadth of their music. Neither of them can be tied to any genre; the styles of the pieces listed range from pop-jazz to romantic, classical and baroque to Gregorian chant. Likewise, they move in both secular and sacred music. The concerts of the choirs are characterized by exciting new formats. For example, in a station concert around the privy councilor Goethe in Wiesbaden, the choirs paid tribute to the stay in Wiesbaden for the cure of the privy councilor 200 years ago, and arSoni showed in a choir theater program how choral music can also be staged with a red thread. Rehearsal weekends, regular voice training and advanced training workshops complement the continuous rehearsal work.

Awards

The male chamber choir Wiesbaden-Sonnenberg was awarded the cultural prize of the state capital Wiesbaden in 1993.
