In 1940 the bank was renamed to its current name and legal form: Volksbank Göppingen eG.

Since the beginning of the 1970s, the bank grew through the merger with a large number of neighboring cooperative banks. In 1971 the first major merger took place with the surrounding Raiffeisen banks Eislingen, Bartenbach, Holzheim, Jebenhausen, Wäschenbeuren and Adelberg. In 1972 the Raiffeisen banks in Zell and Hattenhofen were added.

After the mergers with the Raiffeisen banks Heiningen and Eschenbach in 1985, the Volksbank Göppingen was one of the larger banks in the association. At its 125th anniversary in 1990, the balance sheet total was already DM 730 million. In 1991 Volksbank Donzdorf and Volksbank Geislingen were added.

With the merger of Volksbank Göppingen with Volksbank Ebersbach (2001), Volksbank-Raiffeisenbank Boll (2004) and most recently Raiffeisenbank Schlat (2005), today's institute was created.

In 2012 the Volksbank Göppingen became known through the constitutional lawsuit against the register of consultants .

In 2015 Volksbank Göppingen celebrated its 150th anniversary.
