history

Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch, founder of the first advance payment associations

In 1867 the Association of Upper Baden and the Association of Lower Baden Cooperatives were formed. In order to raise money for investments , Steiner fought in Mosbach for an “advance payment association” based on an idea that goes back to Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch . On March 14, 1869, the call for founding appeared and on April 11, 1869, 171 members could be presented at the first general assembly. In 1870 420 members with total assets of 65,000 guilders could be named. The upward trend reached its preliminary peak in 1914 with 3817 members. The First World War , inflation in 1923/24 and the Great Depression had negative effects on the development of the Vereinsbank, which was renamed in the same year. After several mergers, the advance payment associations and the association banks were renamed Volksbanken, including Mosbach.

A planned new building was intended to overcome the capacity bottlenecks prevailing in 1952. The new premises were moved into in 1956. A rapid upward trend in the 50s and 60s caused the number of members to grow to 2,126 and the balance sheet total to DM 27,017 million. In 1971 the savings and credit bank Aglasterhausen merged with the savings and credit bank Mosbach. In 1972 the Raiffeisenkasse Guttenbach and the Raiffeisenwarengenossenschaft Michelbach joined the savings and credit bank Mosbach. In the same year the Spar- und Kreditbank Mosbach merged with the Volksbank Mosbach to form the Spar- und Kreditbank - Volksbank - Mosbach . In 1973 the Raiffeisenkasse Schwarzach joined. In 1974 the name was finally changed to Volksbank eG Mosbach.

The merger wave ended with the accession of the Raiffeisen Warengenossenschaft Fahrenbach, the Raiffeisen Milchgenossenschaft Haßmersheim and Raiffeisenbank Allfeld in the years 1977 to 1981. With all these mergers grew, the space requirement. In place of two old buildings, a new building in the classical style was built. On April 22, 1985, the new bank building in Hauptstrasse 16 was ready to move into. In 1996 the “Steiner Haus” behind the building at Hauptstrasse 16 was rebuilt. In 2000, the mergers were completed with the accession of Raiffeisenbank Schefflenz-Seckach eG .

The community foundation for the Mosbach region was established in 2002 on the initiative of Volksbank Mosbach. Its non-profit purpose is to promote social, charitable, educational and cultural projects.

From 2007 to 2013 Volksbank eG Mosbach won a Victor Award every two years. In 2007 and 2009, Volksbank Mosbach took first place in the “Strategy” category. In 2011 and 2013 it won the overall Victor Award as “Bank of the Year” in German-speaking countries. In 2013 the bank also won in the “Strategy” category.

In 2011, the Energie + Umwelt eG Neckar-Odenwald-Main-Tauber energy cooperative was founded together with Volksbank Franken and Volksbank Main-Tauber.
