The elementary school on the Schanz is a primary and secondary school in the Bavarian city of Ingolstadt .
history
As space problems grew in the old town school buildings, the city council decided in 1951 to build a new old town elementary school and chose a plot of land on the street Auf der Schanz as construction area. This area appeared to be particularly suitable due to its location on the green belt, the so-called glacis , as it is far away from road traffic and yet close to the city center. However, due to financial difficulties, construction was delayed for a few years. When the situation at the Moritzschule became untenable, the financing finally succeeded.
building
The building was accepted as a monument by the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments under the file number D-1-61-000-620.
