Volksverpetzer is a German weblog devoted to unmasking false reports and aiming to explain the background to political and populist narratives .

Blog

The blog was founded by Thomas Laschyk in 2015 during the so-called refugee crisis in order to counter the hatred and agitation on the net with counter-arguments supported by sources. The articles were later published as a column on Mimikama before the project became independent. The folk mutter became known, among other things, through the slogan "Always live so that the AfD has something against it".

The name of the blog is a play on words with the term “ people hater ”. The design of the posts is often striking. The titles of the articles are usually characterized by the fact that they are deliberately formulated sensationally; they are clearly framed and appeal to emotions. In this way, the aim is to address as broad a mass of readers as possible in the social media and, according to Laschyk, "strategies of the conspiracy ideologues [are] used against them". Even satire is sometimes a stylistic device of the blog.

The approximately 20 employees of Volksverpetzer are mostly volunteers for the medium. The content of the blog is freely available and free of charge. According to the company, the project is mainly financed through donations.
