Volkswagen Motor Polska

The Volkswagen Motor Polska Sp. Z oo (internal abbreviation VW MP) is a subsidiary of Volkswagen -Konzerns. In 1998 a new plant for the production of diesel engines was built in Polkowice , Poland , for USD 120 million . The site belongs to the Medard de Noblat special economic zone in Liegnitz .

The plant is now the largest producer of 1.9l TDI engines in the VW Group, alongside Audi in Győr and the Volkswagen plant in Salzgitter . At the end of 2014 it employed 1,331 people. From 1998 to January 2004, Burkhard Welkener was the chairman of the management and responsible for setting up the plant. His successor was Andreas Klinge.
