Volume equalization line

As a volume-compensating line (engl VAL Abbr.. Pressurizer surge line the connection between the will) the pressurizer and the main coolant line of a pressurized water reactor , respectively. The volume compensation line is integrated in the area between the reactor and the downstream steam generator, i.e. in the hot pipe. The inflow and outflow processes resulting from volume expansion or contraction are also referred to as insurge and outsurge.
