The Vordere Vorstadt was a district of Königsberg (Prussia) . It was south of the old Pregel opposite the Lastadie in Altstadt (Königsberg) and the Kneiphofinsel. To the south, it was bounded by the moat that would later become Kaiser Strasse.

history

In 1329 the Teutonic Order left the area to the city of Kneiphof for the creation of a Lastadie. Later it became a Kneiphöfsche freedom and received its own court seal : a hand holding the scales of justice out of the clouds, the hunting horns of the Kneiphof on both sides. The front suburb was hit several times by large fires. During the last fire in 1811, Kant's birthplace was also destroyed. The Vordere Vorstadt street was the main street from the Green Bridge to Kaiser-Strasse. Like Haberberg, the rear suburb was within the fortification buildings of Königsberg . In the western corner of the rear suburbs was the fortress Groß Friedrichsburg on the Pregel .
