Priority switching

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In electrical engineering, the priority circuit is used to prevent overloads.

One example is the use of the priority circuit with parallel operation of the instantaneous water heater and night storage heater . Switching on both consumers at the same time would mean too much current flow in the house distributor. This is prevented by a load shedding relay, so that the night storage heaters are switched off while the instantaneous water heater is switched on.
