Bjørn Helge Semundseth Riise (born June 21, 1983 in Ålesund ) is a Norwegian football player . He is the younger brother of John Arne Riise and is under contract with Lillestrøm SK.

Career

Early on in his career, Riise was associated with a number of English top division clubs, but his then-club Aalesunds could not agree on any transfer. After a year on loan at Viking Stavanger , he made the leap abroad to Standard Liège . It was awarded to FC Brussels after 17 games . There he came in 31 games on two goals scored.

After the year in Brussels he went back to Norway and signed with Lillestrøm SK . After four years in Norway, he signed a three-year contract with the English first division club Fulham in July 2009 . With Fulham he reached the final of the UEFA Europa League . In the final defeat against Atlético Madrid (1: 2 after extra time) he was not used. In February 2011, Riise was loaned to Sheffield United until the end of the season. Another loan deal, this time to Portsmouth , took place in September 2011. The contract with Riise was not renewed and so he returned to Lillestrøm SK in the summer of 2012 for free.

National team

Riise made his international debut in the European Championship qualifier against Malta, which could be won 4-0. Riise scored his first international goal in the game against Bosnia-Herzegovina. With the goal to the 2-0 final score, he made the victory perfect.
