As repetiteur in a will Symphony Orchestra musicians called that no concertmaster or section leader of a string instrument group, but nevertheless distinguished by advanced tasks of pure tutti players.

In smaller orchestras, a first violin leader often takes on the role of the concertmaster and shares the first desk with him. In larger orchestras, where two concert masters usually share the first desk, the auditors sit behind it.

Leaders ensure that the signs and instructions from the section leaders are also passed on to the players at the rear desks. In pieces in which the strings have several solo parts, the auditors take over this part after the concert masters. They also take over the lead if a string part is notated divisi and the concertmaster cannot lead all the parts.
