South African Badminton Championship
The South African Badminton Championships are the national championships of the Republic of South Africa in this sport. They have been held since 1948. At first they took place every two years, then annually from 1953. The championships were open until the 1980s - that is, foreign players could also compete in the championships. There are also German ( Irmgard Latz , Marieluise Wackerow ), Danish, Dutch and especially English athletes in the winner lists. The Melvill Cup is held for national teams from the South African provinces .
