Don Paup

Donald Clark "Don" Paup (born April 2, 1939 in Los Angeles , † August 7, 2012 in Vienna ) was an American badminton player and sports scientist .

Career

Don Paup was one of the dominant US badminton players in the 1970s. His first title dates back to 1968, when he won the open US championships. Ten other titles followed by 1982. He also won the South African Open Championships in 1971. In 1973 he was inducted into the US Badminton Hall of Fame .

Professionally he worked as a sports scientist. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Occidental College and a Masters of Science and PhD from Tulane University. He worked as a post-doc at Michigan State University and the University of California . He was Chair of the Exercise Science Department at George Washington University in Washington, where he directed the Cardiac Rehab Lab and the Runner's Clinic.
