Vorstellbalkone are balconies that statically independently founded separately in front of a building. As a rule, they have at least four supports that are arranged in such a way that sufficient stability can be proven mathematically. They are connected to the building by special anchor systems for horizontal bracing .

Introductory balconies can be single or multi-storey. Due to their design, they are very well suited for retrofitting balconies on residential buildings . Due to the more stringent thermal insulation requirements for new buildings and the correspondingly stronger thermal insulation composite systems on the facade, the importance of the protruding balconies in this area of application is also increasing. Due to their construction, thermal bridges and the resulting construction defects can be avoided.

Front balconies can be made of steel, aluminum, concrete or wood. According to the model building regulations , they are subject to approval. For the building application by a civil engineer authorized to submit a submission, statics (proof of stability) by a recognized structural engineer is required. From building class 4 (> 7.0 m building height / floor of the highest developed utility floor), the statics must be checked by a sworn test engineer for stability. In individual cases, however, is the state building regulations of the federal state valid.
