Wall installation
The wall installation is a common shape for today expanding bathrooms and toilets , rare for kitchens . The water supply lines and sewer pipes are mounted on the wall and then mostly covered with plasterboard in drywall construction . There are special assembly elements for wash basins and toilets that are attached to the floor and wall. In the case of the toilet, this contains the cistern .
In addition to the disadvantage that the space is reduced somewhat, this type of construction has many advantages over laying pipes under plaster (in-wall installation).
- The walls do not have to be slotted, which is often not possible with thin walls, load-bearing walls or certain constructions (e.g. half-timbered structures ) for structural reasons.
- The assembly is faster.
- The pipes are acoustically decoupled from the wall.
- The leverage of the mounting elements means that the wall is subject to lower loads than when mounting the toilet and wash basin using hanger bolts . This is particularly important in old buildings with fragile wall material.
- The cistern is hidden. If the front wall is half-height, there is a shelf behind the toilet, bathtub or washbasin.
- In old buildings with uneven or generally inclined walls, the irregularities are compensated for, which facilitates the installation of the sanitary elements and the installation of wall tiles.
