Thermal insulation perimeter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The thermal insulation perimeter describes the course of the main thermal resistance through a building or a construction . The thermal insulation perimeter runs at the point of the lowest heat transfer coefficient ( U-value ) on a construction.

Requirement

The thermal insulation perimeter must hermetically enclose the heated building volume . This is where the greatest temperature gradient between the room temperature and the outside temperature can be found.

application

The area derived from the thermal insulation perimeter forms the base area for the energy reference area or the usable building area . Adjoining rooms that are within the thermal insulation perimeter do not necessarily have to be added.

Given the thickness of the thermal insulation material , the thermal insulation perimeter is assumed to be on the outside of the useful volume.
