Heat pump system module
The heat pump system module is a Swiss standard for the planning, construction and commissioning of heat pump systems with a heating output of up to around 15 kW . It is used in new buildings and renovations. The heat pump system module is based on the existing international seal of approval for heat pumps, but aims at quality assurance and increased efficiency for the entire heating system.
Heat pumps in Switzerland
In Switzerland, 18,000 to 20,000 heat pump heating systems have been sold annually since 2008. In 2014 they were the best-selling heating system in front of gas boilers.
In the buildings with residential use, the share of heat pump heating was around 10% in 2013, but in new buildings it had a share of 80%.
The heat pump system module helps prevent losses in efficiency.
quality control
Whether a heat pump system works well depends not only on the coefficient of performance (COP) of the heat pump, but on many factors. This is why the heat pump system module defines standards for the entire heating system:
- It defines standardized and binding processes between all parties involved, from planning to commissioning of the heat pump system. This ensures that all factors are taken into account that have a positive effect on the operation of the heat pump heating.
- It guarantees that all system components are coordinated with one another and that the heating system works reliably and efficiently.
- It defines a standardized procedure for commissioning so that the system is correctly regulated and works with optimum efficiency .
- It obliges the installer to guarantee that the system meets all the agreed properties and maintains the guaranteed energy efficiency with low operating and maintenance costs.
- It guarantees comprehensive documentation on the planning and installation of the system for the attention of the client. This means that all important information can be traced even years later.
- It requires the use of system components that have been tested by independent experts. This ensures that only well-engineered and proven modules are used.

In 2015, seven heat pump manufacturers met the requirements of the heat pump system module. They offer a wide range of devices. The heat pump system module lists over 100 addresses of qualified installers from all parts of the country who work according to the requirements of the system.
