Wünsch Dir was was an entertainment program on GDR television that was broadcast for one hour on Sundays at 4:00 p.m. The program was hosted by the actress Irmgard Düren .

history

The show first ran in October 1960 and was discontinued in 1975. The broadcast was initially every four weeks, but was soon broadcast first fortnightly and then weekly due to the popularity. In recent years, live broadcasts have also taken place at regular intervals from various locations, for example Oberhof . The presenter Irmgard Düren was able to fulfill one of her own wishes when she was able to attend a live broadcast from the outdoor pool in her home town of Meiningen around 1970 . The program was discontinued in 1975 for unknown reasons. Irmgard Düren only found out about it during the last recording, when the director handed her the text with the final sentence, quote: “My dear viewers, this was my last show, I will now say goodbye to you”.

Conception

In the program, viewer requests for various music titles from programs on GDR television were fulfilled. Furthermore, viewers were able to send greetings to friends and relatives on various occasions. As far as possible, national and international artists appeared in the live broadcasts according to the audience's wishes.
